Privacy Policy – PingIt (November 2025)
1. Introduction
PingIt is a completely free location-based messaging and geofence reminder app. We show advertisements (including personalized ads) to keep the app free. We take your privacy seriously and never sell your personal data.
2. Information We Collect

3. How We Use Your Data
- Deliver the core features (location sharing, geofences, pings)
- Show you relevant advertisements (personalized ads are enabled by default)
- Send push notifications when someone pings you or you enter/leave a geofence
- Understand how the app is used and fix bugs (anonymized analytics)
4. Personalized Ads
We use Google AdMob to display ads. By default, personalized ads are turned on (this gives us higher revenue so we can keep the app free).
You can turn off personalized ads at any time:
→ Open PingIt → Settings → Privacy → “Personalized ads” → turn off
This will immediately switch you to non-personalized ads without affecting app functionality.5. Data Storage & Security
All user data (your pings, geofences, profile info) is stored securely in Google Firebase Firestore (Europe or US regions depending on your location). We use industry-standard encryption in transit and at rest.
6. We Do Not Sell Your Data
We never sell, rent, or trade your personal information to third parties. The only third parties that receive limited data are:
- Google AdMob / Google Ad Manager (for ads and analytics)
- Firebase services (storage, authentication, messaging, crash reporting)
All of these are covered by strict data-processing agreements and comply with GDPR, CCPA, and Google Play requirements.
7. Children’s Privacy
PingIt is not directed to children under 13 (or 16 in some countries). We do not knowingly collect personal data from children. If we discover such data has been collected, we will delete it immediately.8. Your Rights (GDPR, CCPA, etc.)
You can:
- Delete your entire account and all data at any time (Settings → Account → Delete account)
- Request a copy of your data
- Turn off personalized ads
